NDIS Participants

If you are a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) self or plan managed participant with a current plan we can offer our services to you. In accordance with NDIS regulations we are registered with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).

What we do…

Counselling can improve your quality of life by helping you process the experiences you view or feel. Many people don’t realise that counsellors aren’t only there to support you through a mental health crisis. Counselling is also a capacity-building and capacity-enhancing therapeutic support service that offers more than just emotional support. A counsellor is an allied health professional that can support you in developing coping strategies, time management skills, help you build confidence and gain more positive perspectives.

With the focus being on a person’s functional ability, capacity building supports offered by a counsellor can help you improve your functional capacity to carry out everyday tasks and activities, connect with and be more involved in your community, build social skills and support you to engage in and enhance relationships with family, friends and people in a positive way, participate more confidently in social and work/study life, help you improve your motivation, focus, knowledge and skills, resilience and decision-making so you can be more independent, and coaching to generally improve your quality of life. No issue is too big or small, and there are many ways a counsellor can support your concerns, personal recovery goals and improve wellbeing.

Counselling can assist participants to develop different techniques and skills to improve their wellbeing and achieve individualised goals. Counselling can be an empowering process that offers guidance to develop the ‘inner’ you , to help you to build and make use of your strengths and resources to make long lasting changes and become more independent.

What can you expect from your counsellor?

We begin by exploring what it is that you would like to achieve. Together we create a plan that contains your goals and this will be the basis of our sessions. These goals are a great way to measure progress but can be adjusted as we progress to suit your needs and circumstances should they change during our time working together.

Assessments and scales are implemented to monitor your progress and the efficacy of your support and plan.

We can liaise with your support co ordinator and/or other supports, with your school/workplace, and family and friends to ensure you have the best support network around you providing a holistic approach to your wellbeing.

We can write allied health progress reports for the NDIS upon request for your plan review.

You are welcome to email a copy of your plan to admin@healingarts.net.au so that we can understand your support requirements and goals, and create a plan to work together to achieve these for you.
